We're hiring! Warehouse Foreman

Portland’s most awesome lumberyard, Sustainable Northwest Wood, seeks an experienced and motivated Warehouse Foreman to join the team at our wood distribution yard in Southeast Portland.  This employee will be responsible for pulling orders, making deliveries, quality control, some light woodworking, and maintaining a safe and clean warehouse, yard, and workspace.

Sustainable Northwest Wood is a for-profit subsidiary of the non-profit organization Sustainable Northwest.  We are a mission-driven company that partners with local mills to provide our region with an easily-accessible supply of FSC certified, local, and sustainably harvested dimensional lumber and Northwest hardwoods.

We stock lumber and plywood, decking, fencing, flooring, countertops, and much more, all from well-managed forests and ecosystem restoration projects in the Pacific Northwest.  Our customers are building product suppliers, builders, home remodelers, and furniture makers.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in a warehouse environment and some experience with construction or other lumber-related activities.  Forklift skills are a requirement. This position will staff the warehouse Monday through Friday for the approximate hours of 7am to 4pm.

Duties:
  • Pulling and packaging lumber orders
  • Warehouse maintenance and cleaning
  • Forklift operation
  • Loading and unloading of trucks
  • Scheduling shipments and deliveries
  • In-town deliveries
  • Providing excellent service and support to walk-in customers

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of basic woodworking tools including table saw, planer and chop saw
  • Forklift skills
  • Warehouse experience
  • Basic Knowledge of hardwood and softwood lumber
  • Customer Service
  • Clean Driving Record
