Sales Associate– Full-time, direct hire Sustainable Northwest Wood is seeking a highly motivated sales person with a passion for green building and excellent communications skills.  SNW Wood is an established and successful business, and a regional leader in the field of ecological forestry.  We find, create and sell to markets that value wood products sourced from rural communities supporting responsible forest stewardship.  Through our business practices, we support both the western green building community and regional mills dedicated to responsible forest stewardship.  We welcome your application to join our team.

Our sales associate will demonstrate excellent customer service, possess broad knowledge of wood products, and be able to work creatively with customers to fulfill their needs.  This exciting new position will be the first point of interaction for our customers and will provide in-store service, phone and email support, and assist with walk in clientele.  This position will also assist our warehouse personnel with pulling orders, stocking lumber racks and working to improve our sample program.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Inside Sales ● Assume primary responsibility for working with walk-in and call-in customers ● Provide exemplary customer service to all customers with prompt quoting, a timely delivery schedule and follow-up procedures for customer support ● Provide follow-through on sales, including but not limited to writing up Sales Orders, Invoices, Purchase Orders, quality control and delivery schedule (coordinate with Warehouse/Delivery staff) ● Assist Marketing & Sales Director with maintenance of the sample program ● Maintain customer database (CRM) and support other sales staff in customer relationship management ● Ensure that all marketing materials (postcards, storybooks, price sheets) are kept up-to-date and available in the showroom Warehouse ● Pull orders for customers (sometimes requiring the use of a fork lift, training/certification will be provided).

● Re-stock lumber racks when material is low. ● Work with Warehouse Manager on developing samples for our samples program.

Job Requirements  • Exemplary customer service and sales skills • Proven commitment to sustainability • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced work environment • 3+ years of sales experience  • Knowledge of lumber and wood products • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Proficiency in MS Office, knowledge of QuickBooks preferred • Physical requirements: Ability to bend, stand, and lift-up to 40 lbs • Bachelors’ degree in business, forest products, or related field

Benefits and compensation: • Competitive benefits package, including fully paid medical and dental coverage • Generous paid time off • $40-42,000/yr.  with profit share option after one year.  

Schedule is Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm
