New Challenge Accepted by our VP of Sustainable Impact

Wishing Terry Campbell the very best in his new endeavors with FSC International.

Terry Campbell has served Sustainable Northwest Wood and our mission for nine years, growing the company, pushing the boundaries of sustainability,  leading with integrity, passion, and keen sense of humor.  He is deep thinker, an unparalleled industry leader, a mentor, and a friend.  He is a total nerd, with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, constantly seeking answers to some of our planet's biggest challenges.  He is accepting new challenges at the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) international headquarters in Bonn, Germany.  His last day at Sustainable NW Wood is Tuesday Oct 17.

Though we are going to miss his infectious laughter, sharp wit, the daily answers to all the questions, the guy who rolls up his sleeves for ANY and EVERY thing that comes his way, we are super proud of him and his accomplishments.  We wish him the very best as he continues to have a positive impact in the world around him.

Because of this new position with FSC, and our commitment to the organization, we know this is really NOT goodbye, but merely 'see you later.'

Some parting words from Terry:

It’s with a heavy heart that on Tuesday, October 17th I will be saying ‘goodbye’ to Sustainable Northwest Wood. After nine years of working with the best team in the wood products industry, it’s time to apply what I have learned and my experiences to a new challenge.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with the most inspiring and passionate sustainable thinkers, architects, designers, contractors, consultants, manufacturers, landowners, forest managers, and others. Our collective goal has always been to find the right balance between creating healthy built environments that do not destroy our natural ecosystems. These efforts have made progress on pushing what’s possible in the fields of material transparency, embodied carbon, ecological forest management, a preference for local wood products, protection of ecosystems, and more.

I feel that during my time at SNW Wood we supported sustainable wood product suppliers at every scale, built community through events, and contributed to some amazing building projects. I have really enjoyed working with everyone that I have encountered, and I can’t wait to see what the Pacific Northwest sustainable building community and SNW Wood accomplish in the future.

My next phase is working as the Senior Expert of Chain-of-Custody (COC) at the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) international headquarters in Bonn, Germany. There, I hope to positively contribute to keeping FSC the leading certification standard for wood products from well-managed forests.

Stay in touch on Linked-In to learn more about the projects I will be working on in the future.

Humbly yours,
Terry C
